A Harlesden bar owner was ordered to pay £1680 after pleading guilty to causing a noise nuisance to neighbours.
Brent Magistrates fined Linda Kusah, of Ilbert Street, London, W10, and her company Westcoast Restaurant Ltd £1500 and ordered her to pay £180 towards Brent Council's costs after she pleaded guilty to repeatedly causing a noise nuisance to the bar's immediate neighbours.
Officers from Brent Council Environmental Health had received multiple complaints about excessive noise from the West Coast restaurant and bar in High Road, Harlesden, NW10, which persisted even after warnings had been given.
A noise abatement notice was served in November 2008 but complaints from nearby residents continued. In December last year and in April this year, environmental health officers witnessed loud amplified music coming from the bar. On the latter occasion, music was blasting out from the premises at 2.30 am, causing disturbance to local residents who were kept awake.
Even though Ms Kusah and the company knew that legal proceedings were being taken, complaints continued and in September this year loud music was again witnessed causing a severe noise nuisance to neighbouring residents.
David Thrale, Director of Environmental Health, said: "The council wants local businesses to do well but not at the expense of their neighbours. I am pleased that we have successfully supported local people who want Ms Kusah and the Westcoast bar to behave more responsibly in future." |
